Art Lab is an engaging and thoughtfully designed class that invites students to experience art from multiple perspectives—combining historical insight, classical instruction, and creative exploration.
Each semester, students will engage in a focused, 10-week study of a famous artist. Through this in-depth exploration, they will build a strong foundation in art appreciation while developing critical observation and analytical skills. This class is structured into the following areas:
Art Observation & Appreciation: Students will explore the life and legacy of a featured artist, closely study their works, and engage in thoughtful class discussions that foster attention to detail and critical thinking.
Technique & Elements of Art: Students will learn fundamental art concepts such as form, line, shape, space, and texture. These building blocks provide the tools necessary to master a variety of techniques and mediums, enabling students to create artwork that reflects their own interests and style.
Invention & Exploration: The majority of class time is devoted to hands-on creation. Students will apply their knowledge by experimenting with different materials and methods. Each project will connect to themes inspired by the featured artist’s life and work, helping to deepen understanding while encouraging creative expression.
Showcase Performance: Students will compile a portfolio throughout the semester. At the end of each term, they will have the opportunity to present their work in a showcase event that celebrates their artistic growth and creativity.
Whether your child is new to art or already passionate about it, Art Lab offers an inspiring environment to learn, create, and grow.
