MISSION & PHILOSPHY
At Music Art & Movement, we strive to create an environment where children are confidently taught artistic skills while remaining gloriously free to explore, imagine, and make meaningful creative choices. Through play, quality literature, music, movement, and hands-on artistic exploration, we cultivate a love of beauty, curiosity, and lifelong creativity.
Creativity beings long before a child picks up a paintbrush or sings a note. It begins with learning to notice.
Every lesson we teach follows a simple rhythm: appreciate, investigate, create.
We begin by introducing something beautiful or meaningful—a work of art, a story, a poem, a piece of music, or something found in nature. Together we pause to observe, ask questions, and wonder. Rather than telling students what they should see, we invite them to share what they notice. Their observations are often thoughtful, surprising, and deeply meaningful.
As the conversation unfolds, we introduce artistic techniques, historical context, and ideas that deepen understanding. Finally, students use what they have observed and discovered as inspiration for original creative work.
We believe that regularly exposing children to things that are beautiful, true, and worthwhile expands the world they carry within them. The ideas they internalize become the foundation for education, authentic expression, and lifelong creativity.
It can be easy to rely on step-by-step projects or to teach children a dance routine and ask them to perform it exactly as it was taught. Those experiences build important skills and confidence. We simply believe there is another piece that deserves just as much attention: giving children opportunities to make artistic decisions of their own.
When children are invited to observe carefully, ask questions, experiment, and create from their own ideas, they begin to see themselves not just as participants, but as artists because they learn that their ideas have value.
Our program intentionally combines play, literature, music, movement, and visual art because children learn best through rich, multi-sensory experiences.
Play invites curiosity. Literature builds language, empathy, and imagination. Art develops observation, problem-solving, and creative confidence. Music and movement engage the whole body, strengthening memory and deepening understanding. When children are encouraged to wonder, create, and discover through many different forms of expression, learning becomes meaningful and joy becomes part of the process.
Above all, we believe every child is an artist in the making. Our hope is that every child leaves our program not only with new artistic skills, but with a lifelong curiosity, the confidence to express their ideas, and the courage to create something uniquely their own.
We would love to welcome your child into our program!
