Music Immersion is an engaging and thoughtfully designed class that invites students to experience music from multiple perspectives—combining historical insight, classical instruction, and creative exploration.
Each semester, students will engage in a focused, 10-week study of a renowned composer. Through this deep dive, they will build a strong foundation in music appreciation while developing critical listening and analytical skills. This class is structured into the following areas:
Music Observation & Appreciation: Students will explore the life and legacy of a featured composer, listen closely to their works, and participate in thoughtful class discussions that encourage attention to detail and critical thinking.
Technique & Elements of Art: UCM music students will provide live instrumental demonstrations to bring core music theory concepts to life. Through interactive games and movement-based activities, students will learn foundational techniques in a memorable, engaging way.
Invention & Exploration: Students will have the opportuntiy to compose their own original music using age-appropriate methods—such as Orff and Kodály methods for younger learners and digital composition platforms for older students. Students will be supported in developing their individual musical identity through thoughtful exploration, creative expression, and opportunities to grow as independent musical thinkers.
Showcase Performance: At the end of each semester, students have the opportunity to present their work in a showcase event, highlighting their artistic development and creativity.
Whether your child is new to music or already passionate about it, Music Immersion offers an inspiring environment to learn, create, and grow.
