Job Title: Creative Movement Instructor
Location: UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center
Position Type: Part-time 10 hours per week
Pay Rate: $25 per hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative dance student to teach Creative Movement as part of our program. The Creative Movement Instructor will lead a dynamic, interdisciplinary educational experience for students of various ages. This position is ideal for a UCM dance student who is eager to share their love of dance and contribute to a vibrant, collaborative learning environment.
This interdisciplinary course introduces young students to the fundamentals of ballet technique and creative movement rooted in modern dance. Through a combination of structure and freedom, students will develop technical skills, explore artistic expression, and gain a deeper understanding of dance as a form of storytelling and communication.
The ideal candidate is a UCM dance student passionate about movement, education, and collaborative teaching. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience in a vibrant, arts-rich learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and lead weekly dance classes incorporating both ballet technique and modern creative movement
Introduce and reinforce foundational concepts of dance including time, space, and energy
Use literature-based themes to guide movement and choreography activities
Incorporate improvisation, partnering, and group work to foster collaboration and personal expression
Collaborate with live accompanists to support organic, emotionally responsive movement experiences
Prepare students for an end-of-semester performance showcasing both group work and student choreography
Foster an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring environment for all students
Administrative Tasks: Submit supply requests to program assistants and help maintain classroom materials as needed.
Qualifications
Background in ballet and modern dance techniques.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Passion for arts education and child development.
Willingness to collaborate with musicians, artists, and educators.
Experience with choreography or improvisation.
