Job Title: Music Immersion Instructor
Location: UCM Student Recreation and Wellness Center
Position Type: Part-time up to 5 hours per week (based on enrollment)
Pay Rate: $25 per hour
Start Date: August 25, 2025

Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative music student to teach Music Immersion as part of our program. The Music Immersion Instructor will lead a dynamic, interdisciplinary educational experience for students of various ages. This position is ideal for a UCM music student who is eager to share their love of music and contribute to a vibrant, collaborative learning environment.
The Music Immersion Instructor will guide students through a four-part curriculum that integrates music appreciation, live instrumental demonstrations, theory-based activities, and hands-on composition using both traditional and modern methods.
Key Responsibilities
Teach & Instruct: Facilitate weekly music immersion classes that encourage exploration, creativity, and critical thinking through music.
Music Appreciation: Present engaging stories and historical context about classical composers and lead guided listening and class discussions to help students analyze and interpret the music.
Interactive Demonstrations: Collaborate with fellow UCM students to provide live demonstrations of orchestral instruments, offering students immersive, close-up experiences.
Curriculum Development: Work in partnership with UCM professors and the Program Director to design and implement lesson plans aligned with developmental learning standards.
Hands-on Learning: Use play-based games and kinesthetic activities to teach music theory in a fun, memorable way.
Composition & Creativity: Guide students in creating their own musical compositions, using age-appropriate methods such as Orff, Kodály, or electronic music software.
Showcase Events: Support students in preparing for end-of-semester showcases where they will present their original work to peers and families.
Administrative Tasks: Submit supply requests and help maintain classroom materials as needed.
Qualifications
Current UCM student majoring in Music.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Passion for arts education and child development.
Experience working with children or youth is preferred.
Ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
